Do you Agree?

By Peter Chiappetta
This month hip-hop once again scored a victory as Drake, Kid Cudi and Wale made GQ Magazine’s Men of the Year issue. Quite a considerable feat considering that all three are freshmen in the game. Referred to as the “Gangsta Killers”, the short blurb credits the Fab Three for killing the gangster persona in rap.

All three are very deserving of this accomplishment. And all three do avoid street-driven, crime-related raps. However make no mistake the label of “gangsta killers” is yet just another instance of the mainstream media’s misrepresentation of Hip-Hop.

For these MCs to be unfairly cast the ‘slayers of gangsta rap’ is a mere over-simplification; a discredit that pigeon-holes the genre as a whole. You can’t tell me that Young Jeezy, Clipse and Lil Wayne are less relevant in today’s game than say a Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco or Mos Def.

This may be a surprise to many, especially those in the media, but hip-hop is as versatile an art form as any other. Rap music is comprised of many styles and subgenres, all of which can and do complement one another very nicely. Unfortunately, it’s also a statement that still evades the minds of mainstream America, much to the dismay of hip-hop heads everywhere.

Those who refuse to acknowledge this fact must be reminded. Take a look at Common and Ice Cube: though lyrically different, both men coexisted in the same era. While the impact and contributions of groups like A Tribe Called Quest and NWA were both significant and necessary for moving the culture forward.

The media has never done this for Rock n’ Roll, so why have they done this for Hip-Hop? Maybe a better question would be, why have they already gotten away with it so much?

The quality of music released in 2009 has been good… for the most part. Cudi’s Man on the Moon and Wale’s Attention Deficit were both great albums. Both received warm receptions from the public and both were deserving of their critical acclaim.

But in the same breath, Raekwon’s sequel Only Built 4 Cuban Links… Pt II could easily be considered one of the best rap albums of the year. In my humble opinion, its harsh content and crime-driven story-telling catapulted the LP to an instant classic.

There are a lot of big projects on the horizon set for 2010. From the re-surfacing of Kanye, to the anticipation of Drake’s debut LP Thank Me Later -- the most highly anticipated album in all of music. And with last week’s news of a potential collaborative effort between Raekwon and “the godfather of gangsta rap”, Kool G Rap, fans are frothing in anticipation.

Catching my drift here...? Good!

Hip-hop heads are not one dimensional. Gangsta or Conscious, East or West, North or South, Black or White, Thug or College Degree -- we don’t discriminate. It’s all hip-hop; no pun intended.

Where GQ failed, I hope to prevail. I do believe that Drake, Cudi and Wale have helped usher in a new day. And it starts and ends with the music.

In this era of internet thuggin’ and ‘WWE-like beefs’, more and more rappers have shifted their focus from rapping to online buffoonery. All in the hopes of rescuing and diverting attention away from their slumping records sales. A definite cry of desperation.

From the ever-popular YouTube rant to the shenanigans displayed in the Rick Ross/50 Cent fiasco, many rappers seemed to have lost their ways. What this new breed of MCs represent is hope. Hope that hip-hop music won’t fall into the trap of self-destruction.

But that’s a discussion for another time.

"NEXT PURCHASE" A GREAT REVIEW!!!!!

There is a black plastic kit which you can purchase from Can-Am if you
The Can-Am Spyder created quite a stir when it debuted last year. The 2009 model comes in an automatic version.
It was February 2007 in San Diego when BRP first introduced the Can-Am Spyder, a hi-tech, three-wheeled vehicle with a bit of a twist - two wheels in the front, one in the rear. For decades, custom three-wheeled trikes have been available with powerplants ranging anywhere from Harley-Davidson Twins to small block V-8s, but these trikes have always sported a single front wheel with two trailing and a reputation for not being the best handling machines. Enter the Can-Am Spyder, a revolutionary direction for three-wheeled transportation.

In an effort to not be categorized with these previous triple-tire vehicles the folks from BRP/Can-Am prefer the Spyder be classified under the term Roadster. Now, the question is, should the Spyder Roadster be classified as a motorcycle?

It doesn't take but a few miles in the cockpit of this testosterone-laden chariot to quickly realize that the characteristics of two-wheeled motorcycles are not apparent. Yes, the Spyder sports a pair of handlebars, and yes, there is a twist throttle - but after that you'll find the Spyder Roadster to be in a class of its own. Previous articles have claimed that the riding experience falls somewhere between a motorcycle and a convertible sports car; I would say it's more like a cross between an ATV and a snowmobile - but with asphalt underneath you.

Innovation is nothing new to the folks at Bombardier Recreational Products. BRP has a steep history in the motorcycle industry dating back to the early Can-Am brand that Jimmy Ellis raced in the U.S. National Motocross series in the early '70s. BRP is also the company that brings you Sea-Doo watercraft and reinvented the jet ski by introducing the first sit-down version. Then there are the Ski-Doo snowmobiles, which includes the top-selling sled in the world. Plus there's the Bombardier ATV line, which is now known as the Can-Am ATV line. Toss in a few more companies like Johnson and Evinrude motors along with Rotax, the Austrian-based engine firm, and you'll quickly see why BRP is known worldwide as a performance company with innovative ideas.

The SE5 transmission is shifted via your thumb and forefinger. Note the tapered grip.
The SE5 transmission is shifted via your thumb and forefinger. Note the tapered grip.
Back to the Spyder Roadster... We were invited to Dallas, Texas, to test the 2009 version, which is virtually identical to the 2008 model, except this time the SE5 model was available. BRP/Can-Am was anxious to show-off their latest techno advancement - one which they felt would help the Spyder appeal to an even broader base of enthusiasts. The SE5 (Sequential Electronic Five-Speed) is a semi-automatic transmission shifted via your left thumb and forefinger, similar to the Yamaha FJR1300AE. The SE5 version has no shift or clutch lever and takes only a few minutes to understand the simplicity of how it works.

The amazing feature of the SE5 is not only how it up-shifts through the five speeds but how it automatically downshifts for you. Once the engine trickles down to the 2500 rpm range, the SE5 automatically starts grabbing gears and by the time you reach that stop sign, you are already in first. Call me lazy, but I found this to be a great feature... You can also manually downshift by easily pulling in on the shift paddle with your forefinger.

No matter how you describe the riding experience, the one word that keeps surfacing to the top is "fun." Plus amazing, unreal, incredible, awesome and a whole slew of positive adjectives. Bottom line is the Can-Am Spyder Roadster is an absolute kick-in-the-butt to ride. Here are some of the reasons why:

Where's The Power Come From?

If you own an engine company that already has global recognition for building hi-tech performance and reliable powerplants, why not start there. The Can-Am Spyder runs a variation of the Rotax V-Twin found in the Aprilia sportbikes. This is a liquid-cooled 998cc V-Twin with multi-port, electronic fuel-injected 57mm throttle bodies, which Can-Am claims produces 106 hp at 8500 rpm with an impressive 77 lb-ft of torque at 6250 rpm. Can-Am also claims the Spyder will top out at 110 mph and accelerate from 0-60 in 4.5 seconds.

85 miles per hour in the pouring rain - no problem!
85 mph in the pouring rain - no problem!
My experience was in the pouring rain on a Texas freeway at 85 mph with plenty of throttle left to easily surpass the 100 mph mark. Overall the engine feels very strong throughout the entire band. Both the electronic and manual shift easily glide through the five-speed gearbox with a solid performance and plenty of power. The exhaust is a 2-into-1 system that amplifies a substantial but subdued sound without much limitation on the performance. Can-Am does have an alternative slip-on exhaust that pumps up the horsepower another 4 ponies and kicks out a classic sound for those looking for a little edgier appearance and performance.

One "Big Fun" feature that the BRP designers put into the Spyder's performance package is the Burn Out factor. Drop the clutch from a standing start and the Rotax 990 will light up the rear tire... And not just for a few feet... I'm talking 30-40 feet! Anytime under 35 mph, feather that clutch and grab some throttle and you have black streaks trailing behind you. I'm convinced it is designed to sell more rear tires, but who cares! If you're 20 or 60, it's always fun to light up the rear.

Getting In Gear

We already touched on the SE5 transmission, but here are some more technical details that set the Can-Am Spyder apart from other performance vehicles. Let's start with reverse. No self-respecting motorcycle has a reverse, especially one that touts itself as a cutting-edge performance machine.

The dashboard is hi-tech providing mph rpm and temperature data.
The dashboard is hi-tech and provides mph, rpm and temperature data.
Wow! It is so cool... Just pull into any parking lot, pull on the reverse lever, push down another gear and back right into your spot. The SE5 version is even easier - push the "R" button and start backing up. Dang, I must be getting old! You have to remember, the Spyder Roadster weighs in at about 700 lbs so the reverse becomes a must-have feature.

The Spyder is belt driven with a carbon-reinforced drive belt. It has a wet clutch (operates inside the case with oil) via a hydraulic piston. The drive ratio is 28/79, but really, once you feather that clutch lever and leave a smoky patch of rubber in your neighbor's driveway, do you really care about drive ratio?

Let's Talk About The Backbone

With two wheels in front and one in the rear, you can only guess that the geometry of the Can-Am Spyder frame will be a bit unique compared to your average motorcycle or ATV. It all starts with what Can-Am calls the skeleton and the SST frame (Surrounding Spar Technology) featuring a steel center beam that surrounds the engine, minimizing weld points and increasing structural integrity. It is what they refer to as a Y design, which you also see utilized throughout all their marketing materials.

Okay... Here Is The Tricky Stuff

With front wheels completely visable the Spyder is easy to navigate.
With front wheels completely visible, the 2009 Spyder SE5 is easy to navigate.
Two wheels in the front, one in the rear... This thing must handle like Fred Flintstone's Brontosaurus. No! Even Wilma would be right at home peddling the Spyder through its paces. You see, the engineers at BRP have created what they call the VSS (Vehicle Stability System), a control system they developed in conjunction with Bosch (a German-based leader of technology - check them out on the web at www.bosch.com).

There are three parts to the VSS:

1- The Stability Control System (SCS) - which continually analyzes the motion of the vehicle and assists the rider in correcting any negative situation. The SCS individually brakes the wheels and reduces excess torque until rider control is regained. I found this to be an amazing feature that instantly develops confidence on how this machine will handle under adverse conditions.

2- The Traction Control System (TCS) - which optimizes rear wheel traction to prevent any excess rear wheel spin. Unless, of course, you are in that burn-out factor range where the designers allow you to spin the rear tire as long as you have the Spyder pointed straight.

Can-Am s Vehicle Stability System controls traction provides a stable ride and comes with ABS braking.
Can-Am's Vehicle Stability System controls traction, provides a stable ride and comes with ABS braking.
3- Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) - helps you maintain control of the vehicle while braking, no matter how quickly you need to come to a stop. Fred used to wear out the bottom of his feet but with the Spyder, sensors monitor the rotation of all three wheels independently and help the rider maintain control steer through any adverse situation.

And then there is the DPS (Dynamic Power Steering). The DPS provides a computer-programmed variable power assist that helps adjusts the amount of steering effort required according to your speed. Okay... That came right out of their marketing brochure, but I can tell you the SCS, TCS, ABS and DPS add up to a combined safety feature found only in high-end sports cars. You can push the Spyder through the turns and the on-board sensors will respond. Barney would be jealous.
What's Left?

To help prevent theft, there is the DESS (Digitally Encoded Security System). The vehicle will not start without the correctly coded key.

The Appearance: Sexy comes to mind. The Spyder has what Marc Lecroix, the Marketing Director for Can-Am Spyder, calls "Flowing Edge Design." The Spyder's appearance creates the impression that the vehicle is in motion, even at a stand-still.

The Spyder in tour mode complete with passanger back rest.
The Spyder in tour mode complete with passenger back rest.
Cargo: Just like the old VW bugs, the Spyder has a storage trunk in the front which allows you to carry 35 lbs of whatever you need to take to where ever you are going. Plenty of space for a week-long cruise.

Gas Mileage: If there was one area for improvement, it would be the gas mileage. You can expect somewhere between 30-35 mpg depending, of course, on how you ride it. Not bad really considering the fun factor you'll have getting there.

The Price: The 2009 stock version, which comes in gray, retails for $15,449. If you want a Spyder in yellow or red you will need to add another $400. And if you want the SE5 version, that will set you back another $1,500. Is it worth the price? You just need to compare it to some of the other vehicles on the market. The Can-Am Spyder Roadster is a "stand alone" vehicle. There is nothing else like it. The Can-Am reps keep the actual number of how many Spyders they have already sold very close to their vest. Best guess is in the 2,500 range with plans to triple that number in 2009. A quick look on E-bay will show you there are not too many available second-hand, which means the Spyder should hold its value.

Warranty: Top to bottom. Front to rear. Soup to nuts. The Spyder comes with a 2-year warranty excluding only "wear" parts like the brakes and the rear tire you left all over your neighborhood.

Driver's License: There is one state where you will actually need to get a Three-Wheel permit to ride the Spyder - that is Washington (go figure). There are two states where just a standard car driver's license will suffice - they are Delaware and California (go figure again). You will need a motorcycle license for the other 47 states.

Accessories: Can-Am has a complete catalog for accessorizing your Spyder. There are performance products like the exhaust and glamour parts like the six-spoke wheels and beauty rings. If you are into touring, there is an adjustable backrest for your passenger along with tank and tour bags and touring windshields. Can-Am even has a complete line of riding apparel and sportswear.

A complete line of accessories are available from Can-Am including this
A complete line of accessories are available from Can-Am including this tank bag.
Where To Buy: Right now there are 500 Can-Am Spyder dealers in America. There are a few dealerships where you might walk in and purchase one off the floor, but most likely you will end up placing your name on a list and may have to wait a few weeks for delivery. Trust me... it's worth it! Go online to www.brp.com to find the closet dealer.

Who Should Buy One? If you are into quilting, save your money. If you are into high-performance, sensor-driven acceleration, don't want to be surrounded with metal cages, enjoy the wind in your face and the smell of rubber, then the Spyder might be for you.

What Would I Change? I would prefer a bit more forward footpeg position - but then again that's just my opinion after five knee surgeries. I can imagine a reduced version (about 10% in size) for around town that housed a 600cc motor and nurtured 50 to 60 mpg. And then I can imagine the Spyder with a 1200cc engine that would top out at 140 mph. One thing for sure, the design team at BRP/Can-Am are already way ahead when it comes to design conception. You can bet the Spyder will soon spin another web.

Conclusion A few hours on the Spyder will tell you it is a lot of fun and easy to ride, especially with the SE5 version. Our plan now is to take one for a long cruise. There is no better way to understand the pros and cons of a bike - or Roadster - than to spend some serious time with it. Stay tuned.

Attitude

The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life.

It is more important that the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill.

The remarkable thing is - we have a choice every day of our lives regarding the attitude we embrace for that day.

We cannot change our past. We cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable.

The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude.

I’m convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you.

We are in charge of our attitudes.

Art and Collectibles News: The Vered Gallery in East Hampton, New York, has taken an Andy Warhol portrait of Michael Jackson off the auction block. The 30-by-26-inch portrait was originally slated to sell via a silent auction by July 12. The art gallery's auction has been extended to August 18 due to all the inquiries received from prospective buyers for the painting.

The portrait is expected to sell for as much as $10 million. The Telegraph reported that this is the same painting that sold in May 2008 for $278,000 with no reserve price. The starting price on bidding for the painting this time is $800,000.

There are five differently colored portraits by Andy Warhol of Michael Jackson that were commissioned by Time magazine in 1984. Each painting features Jackson wearing his famous red military tunic from the Thriller album cover. Another of the five Jackson portraits by Warhol went unsold at an auction held by Sothebys during the summer 2008. The portrait with the yellow background, which appeared on the cover of Time magazine, is in the permanent collection of the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, DC.

These days all things related to the deceased King of Pop are selling quite well. From record sales to collectibles to artwork, the Los Angeles Times reported sales of more than 9 million albums since Jackson's death and anticipate that number to increase significantly.

Kanye West Shares Street Style With Louis Vuitton

Keywords: Fashion and Design | Style and Sartorial Elegance

By RACHEL TAN

Louis Vuitton takes their street style up a notch with help from multi award-winning musician Kanye West. Released just recently, the sneaker collaboration brings together the gritty urbanite flair of West and the skilled craftsmanship of the French fashion connoisseurs.

As a fashion maven and sneaker aficionado himself, West had previously honed his design chops at Nike. This time round, he brings his considerable experience to Louis Vuitton, designing sneakers dressy enough for a night out, yet retaining a distinct urban edge.

Made from suede, calfskin or a patchwork of leathers, the collection will boast three primary designs- Don’s, Jaspers and Mr. Hudson- which share signature details such as a high padded heel flap and a Monogram flower-embossed outsole.

Other eclectic embellishments include suede tassels on Jaspers and a ramrod straight tongue on Don’s.

Digital may be growing but the CD is far from dead

10:01 | Thursday July 16, 2009

By Eamonn Forde

Despite the boom in digital, CD remains the format of choice for most UK consumers according to new research from The Leading Question/Music Ally.

The study also found that the users of digital access models actually buy more CDs and downloads than the average consumer.

The annual Speakerbox survey found that, overall, 73% of music buyers prefer CDs. Even among younger consumers, that many had presumed were digital-only, the numbers were still in favour of physical formats. A total of 66% of 14-18-year-olds said they still prefer CDs over downloading.

Interestingly, physical is still the main format for piracy. While 17% of those surveyed said they fileshared tracks, a total of 23% said they burned CD-Rs.

The Leading Question CEO Tim Walker says, “The continued popularity of the CD should be looked upon as an opportunity. We believe that labels and online stores could and should be doing more to build on music fans’ familiarity with CDs to provide them with additional digital content and to use the CD as a bridge into the digital world.”

Perhaps the most surprising finding was that users of subscription music services and streaming music services still buy a significant amount of physical product.

Those who use services like Napster spend an average of £16.87 a month on CDs compared to an overall average of £11.37 a month. Those who use streaming services like Spotify spend £12.17 a month on CDs and £7.02 on downloads. This is against a survey average of £3.81 a month on downloads.

This, the survey claims, is proof that digital access models are not a substitution for most consumers and are, in fact, a gateway into ownership, be it MP3s or CDs.

Digital made up 20% of recorded music sales globally in 2008 according to IFPI figures, growing from 15% a year earlier.

GOOD IDEA BUT A LI L TOO LATE!!!UNLESS ITS 7 ZEROES INVOLVED!

A GOOD ARTICLE I READ THOUGHT U MIGHT LIKE!!!

By Chuck "Jigsaw" Creekmur
It is pretty common knowledge that it is high time that the recording industry re-evaluate its practices and business M.O.

This is a direct result of the digital era, however I have an archaic response to the resurgence of the new indie and internet movement.

Record labels need to make the record deal worth something again.

Right now, with all eyes on the artist, the artistry, the sales and the business, the labels are going to need to raise the bar instead of lowering it. In recent history, record deals have been given out like cheap candy on Halloween night. The dude co-signed by the DJ gets a deal. The bum best friend of the multi-platinum rapper gets a deal. The trash rapper that does a few thousand out-of-the-trunk can get a record deal. There's a clearance sale on record deals, it seems and the industry "got it for cheap."

These unqualified people are getting signed for all the wrong reasons and very little of it is based on talent or ability. Can we agree that that is most important aspect of an album? I mean, most of these folks don't even have an interesting story to sell to the people or media. I'm sorry, but even getting shot isn't enough anymore. The "deal" has been devalued so badly that your average artist boasts about being indie, not even fully grasping he gravity of that. (That's another topic, but indie is short for independent.) The point is, nobody really cares about getting signed to a deal anymore...they have options.

Don't confuse this as an anti-indie statement or even a pro-major labels commentary. I firmly believe that we only recently fundamentally got off track, but it seems like Pandora's Box is completely broken open. Artists as recently as 50 Cent, Young Jeezy and wise older artists like Master P grasped the notion of crafting a full-circle look at their art way before they hopped in bed with the labels. Then, other artists already signed to majors took meticulous care of their likeness and their art, which often extended well beyond their music. That care doesn't exist anymore, from the artist or the labels. Artist development, A&Ring and other once-essentials are now fundamentally dead.

That can change for the betterment of the business and the future stars of music, if the deal is harder to attain. Getting signed must be a rite of passage of sorts, where only the best of the best emerge victorious.

With the barriers to entry gone, and access readily available, I'm not suggesting that the music game shut down the doors to anybody. In fact, this idea would open up doors to the talents all over the nation and the world that have the goods, but don't have the inroads. There are more ways for an artist to create energy around themselves and you don't have to sit in front of the Def Jam building to get somebody's attention. So, I'm talking about the artists in Detroit, Delaware, Baltimore and Chicago getting in. I'm talking about the MC's in Rotterdam and South Africa. The labels have to understand, this is what is out there. The artists have to be ready to answer the door when opportunity knocks.

Essentially, what I am suggesting is that - for the fans' sake - artists must assume control of their own destiny and when they have gone through that industry trial by fire, everybody is a winner.

If the deal is just given out, even the "nobody" doesn't respect it. The goal: creating the next generation of superstars and salvaging a business that enables potential greats to fulfill their destiny.

Solutions:

Artists: Labels will be labels. Create value in what you do and what you are. Have a total package as an artist and, more importantly, as a commodity. Know the digital landscape in detail, but don't completely abandon traditional forms of promotion and marketing that work. Have a team.

Labels: We've seen what happens when artists are JUST signed. Nobody wins, because many of these immensely talented individuals sit on a shelf, only to get released years after their buzz is the highest. Others do get release dates, but suffer from wackness or simply from neglect. From a business point of view, there will always be an urge to sign the next hot thing on the spot, but treat the artist like a flower and help them blossom. There aren't many Michael's, Mariah's and Madonna's out there, but there are many reoccurring lessons to be learned from these artists.

Health & Beauty: There are some things money can't buy, but Dior Beauty is bringing us one step closer to removing a youthful, wrinkle-free visage from that list with its new L'Or de Vie (Gold of Life) anti-aging skincare system.

Launched in December 2006, L'Or de Vie is derived from the vines of the venerable Chateau d'Yquem. Château d'Yquem's Premier Cru Supérieur dessert wines are wold-renowned for their exceptional longevity ; in 2006 a 135-year "vertical" (containing every vintage from 1860 to 2003) was sold at auction in London for $1.5 million.

Dior has extracted a unique composition of 10 antioxidant and regenerating molecules contained in the sap of the shoots of the Yquem vines. The L'Or de Vie collection comprises three separate items : L'Extrait, La Crème and La Crème Yeux (Extract, Cream and Eye Cream).

L'Extrait - 15mL ($370)
The Extract is the lightest formulation in the collection. The sheer, lightweight gel moisturizer is perfect for day wear under makeup. A small amount goes a very long way; two pumps of the dispenser (smaller than a dime in the palm) is generally sufficient to cover both the face and the neck. Never forget the importance of applying anti-aging products to the neck and décolletage! Too few women realize that these areas generally receive as much sun exposure as the face and can exhibit similar signs of aging. Nothing worse than a serenely smooth brow with a crepey, wrinkly neck! The scent is quite subtle, and skin immediately feels softer and takes on a "plumper," healthier radiance. If you can only afford one product in the L'Or de Vie collection, L'Extrait is worth every penny. One bottle lasts approximately 3 months.

La Crème Yeux - 15mL ($195)
Unlike many other eye cream formulations, L'Or De Vie has managed to come up with a richly moisturizing formula that isn't oily or sticky. Undereye circles, puffiness and dryness are noticeably reduced within the first week of use. Excellent for amerliorating that haggard, sleep deprived look that tends to entrench itself over time.

La Crème - 15mL ($350)
La Crème provides powerful day moisturization for dry skin, and can be used overnight by all skin types. The cream absorbs quickly without leaving a greasy residue, so no need to fear for your linens! As with the other L'Or de Vie products, the cream's scent is very light and pleasant, and it quickly fades from notice.

Travel Set ($215)
The collection is also available for purchase in a TSA carry-on friendly travel set which includes all three products.

MY BIOGRAPHY!

KNOXX These letters describe a man with a true passion for his music. Born in Baltimore, MD, this MCs star is definitely shining bright. At a young age, Knoxx began his quest for success with his first recording entitled The Shop which gained him underground acclaim, and recognition overseas as well. This ode to the hood barbershop bells and kicked off a musical journey which would eventually lead Knoxx across the nation The Shop allowed Knoxx to perform with the likes of LL Cool J, Ice Cube, Common and Mobb Deep and went on to sell 30,000 units independently by the time all was said and done. Knoxx then moved on to Atlanta where he released an EP entitled Carpe Diem which was hailed by the local press as A Solid Hip Hop Album. For a newcomer to the city, those words are high praise from a local press that coveted their own artists as much as Atlanta did at that time. Knoxx also formed a crew called The Ark which also gained notoriety not only in Atlanta, but from major publications outside of the ATL as well. Knoxx then entered the Blaze Magazine Freestyle Battle, and proceeded to receive the loudest crown response in the event, allowing the streets to let it be known he was the winner, hands down. Subsequently, he graced the cover of Elemental Magazine, which praised him for the energy and intensity of his live performances. While Atlanta was still recovering from his impact, Knoxx then moved his career to Los Angeles. I knew success was out there for me he said. He hit the ground running, moving freestyle mix tapes throughout the city to make the name Knoxx known in the West. One of these mix tapes came across the desk of Grammy winning rapper, Young MC, who promptly took Knoxx into the studio to record cutting edge tracks with the goal of creating classic hip hop. The collaboration proved to be an education for both men to say the least. Knoxxs newest release combines street stories, heartfelt testimonials, and infectious hooks with a lyricism that will take classic hip hop fans back while propelling current hip hop fans forward. Give him 16 bars, hell give you the world. Buckle ya seat, put the kids to sleep, cause Knoxx is on your boxTURN IT UP!

VOUGE DOC..LOOKS INTERESTING!!!News & Trends: Each year, fashionistas around the world look forward to the September Issue of Vogue Magazine. But this year there is more to look forward to than just the printing of the fashion bible; there is September Issue, a documentary detailing the mysterious, behind-the-scenes, goings on at Vogue.

Each August, when the September Issue is unleashed for the public, record-breaking numbers scramble to buy it and know first what is coming for the next year. To date, the September Issue of 2007 was the best selling ever, weighing over 4 pounds and thirteen million copies.

Anna Wintour, the legendary editor in chief of Vogue magazine for over 20 years, has become a celebrity in her own right, as she determines the fashions for the seasons, advising top designers on what to send down the runway. Until September Issue, the bob-coiffed sunglass-wearing fashion guru has remained a mystery, but for filmmaker R.J. Cutler's new film, she has allowed cameras into her inner sanctuary.

R.J. Cutler's new film takes viewers inside the world of fashion as Anna and her team scramble to create the year's most coveted magazine. Just as Cutler exposed politics in his prior film, The War Room, September Issue takes viewers inside the world of fashion and the turmoil that ensues as each piece is handpicked for the issue.

Alongside Wintour is incomparable Creative Director Grace Coddington. The film lends insight into their decades-old conflict between creator and curator. The two battle it out to stay at the top of the ever-changing industry.

Also making appearances in the film are their teams of creative types and assistants, as well as glimpses of the inner workings of the entire fashion world, from Fashion Week, Europe, fashion shoots, and staff meetings.

September Issue will be released in the US' fashion capital, New York City, on August 28th and be available nationally September 11th.
